Camping Out

Camping 2008: Cougar Campground

Uncle Paul got the gang together again for our annual group camp out. Max went fish'en with cousin Terry and caught his first fish... and his second... and his third... !! Uncle Dan did not catch any - which made Max doubly proud.

Clark spent an afternoon working to free a log in the swimming area - with dreams of surfing it. He convinced the girls to help him. While they never truly worked the log free, they had fun trying - and Clark kinda surfed! (I did discuss the danger of logs in water with them.) I miss the days of wading pools and swim floaties. Someday they will be camping by themselves, and hopefully hearing my voice in their heads - poor dears.

It isn't a camp out until we learn something. Uncle Paul and Aunt Daria taught us all about the Mason Bee - and everyone built a bee house to put in their yard.

Uncle Paul as the Professor. Yes, there was a quiz!

Mom and Dad came to visit and had dinner with us.

Carol with her furry kids. Gizzie and Rovey were great camp guards and were constantly on the job.
Tahoe gives Daria a kiss!!

CURE

Our friends, Mark and Cindy, helped to organize a Cancer fundraiser at LaSalle high school a few weeks ago. The picture shows luminaries that began the evening spelling the word "HOPE" - then the word changed to "CURE". We need a cure - soon. Too many friends and family have been taken too early. Daria's sister, Andrea passed away today. She has donated her body to cancer research at the University of Utah. Thank you Andrea.

2008 Olympics

Are you Lov'en the Olympics? We are! Go Michael!! Loved the opening ceremonies! Yao Ming Rocks!! Gymnastics have been exciting. This is the first time I remember seeing synchronized diving (seems hard enough to dive let alone match up with another diver)! Love the women's beach volleyball - little disappointed in the men's uniforms - doesn't seem fair! (my only complaint so far).

Love Bob Costas! And the nod to Jim McKay at the end of the opening ceremony was so touching. He was the voice and face of a friend throughout so many Olympic and Wild World of Sports memories.

GO USA!! and everyone else...

It's a thrill to watch all these athletes!

Happy Birthday Sylvia!

I couldn't go to bed tonight without paying tribute to my darling Mother-in-Law. We miss her so! This was her last earthly Easter with us. We are egg hunting in her room. She got a big kick out it. She loved using Max's Pooh bear blanket - it was cozy. Sylvia always had a smile and so much love for her family and friends.

Baby got Bunny

When Tahoe is lonely or frightened, he goes for his stuffed bunny. It's always good to have someone to nap with too.

Dinner with Friends

July had some high points, and this is one of them. Dinner with our friends.

Had great ribs ala Tim and yummy roasted veggies ala Mary.
Remember dipping your fingertips into still warm candle wax? Miss Kate brought back the memory to me. She has a big talent for it - and the boys thought it was cool too!

The kids had a blast with squirt guns. I think they sat down long enough to eat and then were back to the water fun.

Thanks for a great evening.. friends...
